In the Groove

I use to be a sports nut but over the past several years my interests has wained. Now I seldom watch a game of any kind. But my Lisa on the other hand follows the Cavs. She knows most of the players and will watch the televised games when time permits.

Clearly Lebron James has breathed new life into Cleveland sports and has put us on the map, so to speak. And I must confess, it is exciting to watch a game or two when "King James" is in his zone. Sometimes it seems no matter who is guarding Lebron he appears to be unstoppable and the ball and rim magnetized to each other. Now if we can just get the Indians and Browns "in the zone" we will be all set.

What about the church ... does she have "a zone, a groove or a sweet spot" per se? What would "in the zone" look like for Willoughby Hills Friends? I value your input.

Thanks for stopping by!

  1. In golf one is taught to "visualize" the shot before attempting to hit the ball. King James doesn't think about what He's doing, he simply "lives" the playing of the game naturally. He "sees" or feels the results before they occur. He's one step ahead of everyone else on the floor.
Our faith is the same. We live the life of faith that we visualize, see and feel before that life occurs. Christ gives us the opportunity to be one step ahead of the world, the flesh and the devil.
    Amen.

    No more time.

    Carry on!

  2. Maybe we are all looking for the King James in the church. The one to lead, the one with drive, the one with vision, the one who will do anything it takes to get the job done. It's always easier to look to someone else to be the one to make things happen rather than looking to ourselves. If someone would just step up and lead, we'd be ready to follow. Aren't we all called to "lead"? If we're truly following the Leader, we don't care who follows. We just follow the one that guides us and are content to follow the path He shows us. Jesus far surpasses Lebron, but we don't spot Him easily. We need to know Him, understand His moves, know what His drive is, and follow His game plan. When we look for a leader in men, we end up divided and disappointed.
